Recently, a fruitful meeting took place in Castellón (Spain), bringing together the Valencian Institute of Building (IVE) and the Institute for Ceramic Tecnology (ITC). As a representative of the DeCO2 project, IVE embarked on this dialogue to identify potential synergies and collaborations for impactful initiatives in the short and medium term.
This meeting emphasised the importance of networking between two key projects, DeCO2 and RECONMATIC, where both sides have expressed a strong interest in collaboration. As the leader of the Spanish Demo Case, IVE shared insights from the DeCO2 project, which is dedicated to revolutionising construction products by utilizing Construction and Demolition Waste (CDWs) along with secondary bio-based material. These innovative solutions are slated for testing in three demo cases located in Ireland, Austria, and notably Spain, with IVE managing the Spanish demo case and developing a circular or C-Toolbox tool to assist professionals during the design phase.

The RECONMATIC project aims to provide automated solutions for the sustainable and circular management of construction and demolition waste, and the ITC is responsible for developing new construction products that incorporate waste materials, as well as offering guidance on sustainability and circularity.
The integration of efforts between DeCO2 and RECONMATIC is poised to bring invaluable expertise and contributions to both initiatives. This collaborative strategy aims for a sustainable and intelligent construction approach, embedding a circular economy model to foster the well-being of citizens, particularly as urban environments and buildings increasingly face adverse effects due to climate change. By leveraging combined knowledge from both projects, we anticipate generating highly beneficial actions that promote social welfare.
