DeCO2 Participates in the Built4People Cluster Meeting and Stakeholder Forum
The DeCO2 project was proudly represented by our coordinator, Sofia-Natalia Boemi from IEECP - Institute for European Energy and Climate Policy, during two important Built4People community events held in Brussels on 6 and 7 November.
On 6 November, DeCO2 participated in the Built4People Cluster Meeting, hosted by CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency. The event gathered Horizon Europe projects working towards a more sustainable, resilient and people-centred built environment, providing an opportunity to exchange experiences, discuss common challenges and explore future collaboration opportunities.
During the meeting, DeCO2 was presented alongside the sister project CRedIBlE, highlighting complementary approaches to advancing circularity and sustainability in the construction sector. While CRedIBlE focuses on designing buildings for adaptability, reuse and disassembly, DeCO2 contributes by developing data-driven decarbonisation pathways for building renovation that integrate technological innovation, circular economy principles, social engagement and policy measures.
A key topic discussed throughout the event was the growing importance of Digital Product Passports, Material Passports and circular material platforms. These tools are expected to play a central role in improving the traceability, accessibility and long-term value of construction materials and building components throughout their lifecycle.
The following day, DeCO2 also participated in the 5th Built4People Stakeholder Forum, entitled "Building Europe's Resilient Future". The forum brought together researchers, industry representatives, policymakers and innovation actors to discuss pathways towards a more circular, resource-efficient and climate-resilient built environment.
The two-day event provided an excellent platform for networking, knowledge exchange and strengthening synergies among Horizon Europe projects. Discussions explored topics including sustainable and circular renovation, digitalisation in the construction sector, BIM-based processes, digital twins, participatory building design and innovative solutions for accelerating the green transition across Europe.
DeCO2 would like to thank CINEA, the European Construction and Sustainable Built Environment Technology Platform (ECTP), and the entire Built4People community for organising these inspiring events and fostering collaboration among projects working towards a sustainable built environment.
