DeCO2 aims to integrate technical innovations and decarbonization strategies in the building sector. Within work package 3 (WP3), a structured framework including the technical specifications for implementing decarbonization strategies in the building sector was created.
With the successful compiling of deliverable 3.1 (D3.1) details on methodologies, processes, and key findings that are vital for promoting sustainable renovations and reducing CO2 emissions significantly, are identified. A major outcome of D3.1 is the establishment of a comprehensive framework that integrates various decarbonization methodologies, providing stakeholders with clear guidelines to align their actions with the project's objectives and EU climate policies. The framework underscores the necessity of a systematic approach to decarbonization, facilitating effective strategy implementation across diverse contexts. Stakeholder engagement has been pivotal, involving government agencies, construction industry representatives, researchers, and community organizations.
Through workshops and collaborative sessions, the project has gathered insights and built consensus on necessary actions for decarbonization, addressing practical challenges and opportunities within the sector. Research conducted in Task T3.1 has identified barriers to energy efficiency and assessed existing policies, leading to targeted interventions tailored to specific challenges. Additionally, D3.1 promotes innovative technologies and practices that enhance energy efficiency, encouraging the adoption of sustainable materials and construction techniques.
The deliverable also includes policy recommendations aimed at influencing regulations and incentives for sustainable renovations, creating an enabling environment for effective action. Furthermore, monitoring and evaluation metrics have been established to track progress toward decarbonization goals, ensuring continuous improvement and adaptation of strategies. The underlying architecture for assembling and process needed data is shown below.

In summary, Deliverable D3.1 encapsulates a holistic approach to set different innovative technologies up for integration into a dynamic decarbonization framework. It prepares a criteria matrix integrating technological, social, and policy innovations for sustainable renovations, ultimately contributing to significant CO2 emissions reduction and enhanced energy efficiency across Europe.
