On 18 February 2026, DeCO2 actively participated in the online webinar “The Role of a Shared Glossary in Advancing Circular Construction”, organised within the framework of the Circular Construction Cluster (CCC) and coordinated by the RECONMATIC project.

As a proud member of the Circular Construction Cluster, DeCO2 fully supports the CCC’s mission to foster collaboration, knowledge exchange, and scalable solutions that accelerate Europe’s transition towards a more circular and resource‑efficient construction sector.

About the Webinar

The online event brought together EU‑funded projects, researchers, and industry practitioners working to advance circularity in construction. The discussion focused on the importance of shared tools, harmonised terminology, and collaborative approaches to reduce construction and demolition waste (CDW) and improve material recovery across the built environment.

A key highlight of the webinar was the role of a shared glossary as a practical enabler for cooperation among diverse stakeholders. In a sector characterised by technical complexity and multidisciplinary collaboration, inconsistent terminology can slow down implementation, reporting, and policy alignment. Establishing common definitions was presented as a concrete step towards overcoming these challenges.

The Role of the Circular Construction Cluster

Initiated by the RECONMATIC project and led by Future Needs, the Circular Construction Cluster (CCC) brings together European projects, academia, and industry stakeholders to address one of the construction sector’s most pressing environmental challenges: construction and demolition waste.

Through its activities, the CCC supports:

  • Collaboration between EU projects and industry

  • Knowledge exchange on circular construction practices

  • The development of scalable, practical solutions

  • Contributions to standards and best practices

By creating a shared space for dialogue and joint action, the Cluster strengthens Europe’s capacity to move towards a fully circular and climate‑neutral construction ecosystem.
