On Jan 22nd, Robert Drennan from the Limerick Clare Education and Training Board attended a Further Education and Training (FET) Networking event in Athlone where he was given the opportunity to present an overview of the DeCO2 project within the context of the Irish Demonstration Site. The event was titled ETB SOLAS Decarbonisation workshop and Robert presented the project as an example of some of the strategies being employed by LCETB to decarbonise their building stock.
Within the Irish Demo site, work has been progressing on the development of a Digital Twin for the building and the planning of a Green Roof installation. Additionally, some retrofit upgrades on the building are underway including upgrades to lighting and windows.
The Decarbonisation event was attended by approximately 45 representatives from the Further Education and Training Sector and the audience comprised of Directors, Building Officers, Energy performance officers, energy officers representing different ETB's. There were also representatives from the funding agency SOLAS and the Department of Further and Higher Education Research Innovation and Science (DFHERIS). This networking event allowed invaluable knowledge sharing within the ETB sector.
