DeCO2 is excited to announce its membership in the Circular Construction Cluster, founded by the RECONMATIC Horizon Europe project. This collaborative initiative aims to transform the construction sector through innovative, sustainable practices. The cluster aims to nurture collaboration among projects, academia and industry stakeholders in construction and demolition waste management.
The Circular Construction Cluster brings together leading organisations, researchers, and industry experts who share a common goal: to create a more sustainable and resource-efficient construction industry. By joining forces, DeCO2 aims to leverage collective expertise and develop cutting-edge solutions that address the challenges of waste management, resource scarcity, and energy efficiency in construction.
The cluster works to increase the impact of all engaged organisations’ work and results and exchange valuable knowledge on circularity in construction. The aim is to promote circularity not only through the development of new technologies (AI, robotics, automation, digital twins, etc), but also through new collaboration frameworks, regulation recommendations, and recycled and reused construction materials manufacturing.
Our shared vision is to promote tangible circular solutions for the construction sector, which provides 18 million direct jobs, contributes to about 9% of the EU's GDP, drives economic growth, provides solutions for social, climate and energy challenges, and accounts for more than a third of all waste generated in the EU.
